International Festival of Winter Cinema

February 7 - February 16

Bundle up and enjoy a film on the massive snow screen!

The International Festival of Winter Cinema (IFWC) celebrates local and international winter, alpine, and polar cinema on our giant snow screen! Presented as part of the Silver Skate Festival (the longest running winter festival in Edmonton), this is the world’s only free outdoor winter film festival. IFWC allows film artists to gain exposure to their craft, while the public has the opportunity to enjoy the films.

IFWC 2025’s program will include a variety of film experiences, with short film nights that include the best of local films, Indigenous perspectives, and winter sports films projected on the famous snow screen!

IFWC is the world’s greatest free outdoor winter film festival.

The world is full of opportunities to celebrate winter cinema. IFWC is proud to showcase outstanding films submitted by artists from around the world. Our filmmakers often have fascinating stories to tell and we encourage you to learn more about the creators and the making of their films. Every year, we screen winter, mountain, polar, indigenous, and local films at our snow theatre in Partnership with Silver Skate Festival!
